5 Ways To Detox Your Life!
“People INSPIRE you, or they DRAIN you.. pick them wisely.”
Over last few days I’ve been Thinking... and Thinking deep. As today I was sitting with my journal thinking to brain dump, the first thing that came into my mind was how well I lived and learned over last year and what I need to accomplish or perhaps improve this year as we are almost in the last leg of the first month of 2020. Yay! :)
Unknowingly and sometimes knowingly I “almost” decluttered my life last year (although I can’t explicitly explain here or perhaps that would be my another blog) but major part was to detox myself from the people and places who drained my energy and where I did not feel those “good vibes”.
I know it is difficult and sometimes painfully hard to remove the negativity when you feel these “not so good” vibes specially from our near ones. Irrespectively, we all have to do what’s right for us and for our well being so we can improve our life and also enhance and inspire others.
Here are few of my ‘lessons learned’ and hope it could inspire you a little as well! :)
1. “FEELING” IS EVERYTHING
Feelings are everything. You will just somehow know and feel the energy that you are in if you are around negativity or, positivity for that matter. The Universe has given Human beings few of the faculties that differentiates us from animals (the ability to THINK, IMAGINE and the power of INTUITION..). I think it is more of an awareness that one has to be in to feel it. I don’t know why, but I can feel the vibes from a distance and my intellect helps me to be aware of where I’m getting into (perhaps yoga/meditation does help to some extent and for me to be more close to my feelings however I often question this to myself). Feel it and you will know - and once you are aware, you know where you have to be.
2. DECLUTTER
Yes declutter! The very first thing that I do when I know I’m in a negative environment is, I pull myself out and try to limit myself with people who drain my energy. Sometimes you really can’t cut them off from your life when they are your near ones, but you can definitely make sure that you are spending a little less time with them.
3. STOP THINKING WHAT OTHERS ARE THINKING
I think this has been the most challenging one for me personally, especially when I’m dealing with people who are my near ones. I always think/consider what they might be thinking as their thinking and feelings are important to me at the end of the day. However over time, I’ve learnt that this is just not possible. It’s not possible as everyone in the globe are different and that’s what makes us unique, you cannot Sit, Stand, Move, Talk, Walk exactly how they expect you to, or for that matter any big decisions of your life. In the past year and last couple of months, I literally took myself out of the zone of making people happy where I was making myself miserable. It took me sometime to realize what I was doing with myself just so to make others feel good. Believe me this is not going to help anyone anytime.
4. STANDUP FOR YOURSELF
And this likely comes from Self Care. Self Care is not an indulgence or selfishness, it is a simple act of being generous and kind to yourself. I drew a line and created boundaries where it was necessary as a step towards self care. Over the past few months I took decisions which were necessary and to quit and remove things from my life that were not serving me. Sometimes you have to stand up for yourself- no one knows your journey and no one has experienced your journey, you are the only one who would be with you till the end of your life. Please be kind to yourself and make decisions that is best for your life.
5. LIFE IS TOO SHORT
I learnt somewhere that our GPS should be JOY. Life is too short to be angry or frustrated. I heard the very sad news of Kobe Bryant, 41 today (RIP Kobe Bryant), a reminder how fragile life is.. We live in this world as if we are going to live forever, however the brutal truth is that we are all going to be dust one day. I learnt that it is the single most important decision of our life to be in a state of Happiness, no matter what (it doesn’t mean we wouldn’t get frustrated at times with our job, relationships, loss of a family member or any other circumstance for that matter but it has to be a decision to quickly pull yourself out from that state and choose to be happy). I still get frustrated and angry and sometimes off mood, but I try myself to make a decision instantly to be out from that state. Choose to be You, choose to be Happy.. and most importantly love yourself and feel blessed for this Life. Always go to the People, Places and Pursuits where you feel joy and happiness. Life is too short. -“Even the longest ride is a pretty short ride!”
