5 Benefits of Taking Breaks…(and why breaks are so important)!
“Each person deserves a day away in which no problems are confronted, no solutions searched for. Each of us needs to withdraw from cares which will not withdraw from us” - Maya Angelou
With the year ending and as we head into the season of Holiday (yay!), I realize, my travel schedule has picked up over this year. Between a wedding, beaches, jungles, and mountains, I’ve been on the travel quite a bit.
I think traveling is the best way to unplug from the pushes and pulls of daily life and helps you to refuel, see new places, gain new experiences and meet new people and culture.. I’m truly grateful to go to places around. :)
I realize we all need a little break-time for ourselves, now and then, to energize, refuel and get a fresh start to gain a sense of clarity on where we are going and ultimately where we want to be in the next coming years to get back with a focused mind and to get even more productive - I did… just that!
Here are a few fab reasons to take frequent breaks which I've learned over the years. I hope you would enjoy reading (and adapting) them too!
1. Enhances Your Mood!
Breaking out is so important to break up your routine and get the real juice of life which can help relax and lift our moods. Do something that you know you will enjoy during this time that can lift your spirit. You might even discover the talents you had and never realized!
I generally get involve in something that enhances my personal and professional will being. Recently, I’ve signed up for a personal health coach who guides, mentors and motivates me to stay fit, eat healthy and to stay on track to avoid binging on ‘not-so-healthy’ food (I’ll share my daily workouts routine probably in other post).
2. Keeps An Overview - The Big Picture
Taking frequent breaks, gives you a chance to slow down, get an overview and effectively reassess information on the progress. It gives you a big picture overview instead of just rushing unconsciously from task to task without thinking of the end goal.
3. Increases Your Productivity!
Taking care of your physical and mental health is so crucial for your productivity, it will allow you to work effectively and be more productive.
4. Improves Mental Health and Overall Well-being
Breaks help to remove the fatigue, gain clarity and to gain fresh perspective, thereby having a positive impact on your overall well being.
5. Washes away all the Negativity!
Oh! this one is so important and I can’t stress it enough! When you are in a constant cycle, mindlessly rushing, without any pause or purpose, you attract negativity (negative people, negative environment, negative thinking -and all that, that kills your soul).
This is the lowest stage when you get that ‘wake up call’ to realize you need to get out of it sooner than later! - A Break helps just that. It helps you to pause, release clutter from the mind, gain clarity and to be present to realize life is really more than this. Times and times life has given me these quintessential breaks, that I now think are key to my growth and for me to know myself better. :)
